what is a poem?

A poem is a long road,
Where words and thoughts are explored,
It takes us anywhere we want to go,
Poems are thoughts expressed,
Thoughts closest to our hearts,
A poem may be a couplet, it may be terecets,
It can also be a ballad stanza, And it can be a free verse,
Like the flowing waters in the rivers, a poem can make sense or be nonsense,
It can make us laugh and also bring a tear in our eye,
It can make matters sink, which makes us think,
A poem can be long or short or a story of sorts,
It can be simple and straight,
To be understood in its essence great,
Long or short, laugh or cry, poems keep us alive,
It need not rhyme, but in time, if it is understood it is fine,
Poems are the best so just go ahead ..you know the rest!
